Howard R. Green Company
CONSULTING ENGINEERS
Memorandum
CCNIIINGENC11913
Formerly MSA
Consulting Engineers
To: Mr. Terry J. Maurer, P.E., Howard R. Green Company
From: Mr. David E. Nyberg, P.E., Howard R. Green Company_bN
Subject: MAPLE LEAF COURT DRAINAGE ISSUE
CANADA WOODS WEST DEVELOPMENT
File: 804490J -0325
Date: October 13, 1998
As requested by the City of Little Canada at the meeting an September 30, 1998, we have
completed additional review of several options and alternatives that were discussed at the
meeting.
Introduction
The three options discussed at the meeting that we further reviewed include the following:
• Riprap /Enkamat Swale — this option includes grading a swale from the convergence of
the culverts under County Road D and Maple Leaf Court to the area along the back
property lines of the homes along the east side of Maple Leaf Court. The swale would
be lined with Enkamat upstream and Riprap downstream, depending on the flow
velocities and extent of existing erosion.
• Storm Sewer along Maple Leaf Court — this option includes the construction of a storm
sewer pipe along the east boulevard of Maple Leaf Court which would convey the water
from the convergence of the culverts under County Road D and Maple Leaf Court to the
existing catchbasin at the south end of Maple Leaf Court. Also, as part of this option, the
existing pipe from the catchbasin in the cul-de -sac would be replaced with one of larger
capacity to handle the increased flow to the pond.
• Storm Water Pond along Washout — this option includes grading a stormwater pond
along the existing washout to collect and detain the stormwater and slowly release it into
the existing pond at the south end of Maple Leaf Court.
O: \PROJ1804490j103251490- 1304.oct doc
PAGE 127
1326 Energy Park Drive • St. Paul, MN 55108 • 612/6444389 fax 612/644 -9446 toll free 888/368 -4389
