Hanson <br />As you know, the booster station pumps water to our elevated water tower with two 100 h.p. <br />pumps. During power outages, we are not able to pump any water to the water tower. <br />Depending on when we lost power to the booster station and the amount of water being used by <br />our residents, we could end up running out of water. As a result, the 1999 budget included the <br />purchase of a generator for $40,000. <br />On July 23, 1999, bids were received, open, and read aloud for the purchase of a portable <br />standby generator. Three bids were received and are summarized below: <br />Cummins $61,604.50 <br />Ziegler 38,159.00 <br />United Rental 75,215.00 <br />I have evaluated the bids and have determined that the unit proposed by Ziegler appears to meet <br />specifications and will provide the best value for the City. Therefore, I recommend the Council <br />authorize staff to purchase the portable standby generator proposed by Ziegler for a price of <br />$38,159.00 (includes State sales tax). <br />GS:kp <br />PAGE 145 <br />
