515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada. MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Duane Williams, Fire Marshal
DATE: August 5, 1999
RE: Tank Removal License Fee
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The City currently charges a $25.00 license fee for removal of fuel tanks. Given that this
fee does not cover the City's costs of processing and inspection, it would be our
recommendation that the fee be increased.
Attached is survey information on what other cities are charging for tank removal
licenses. The surrounding cities are using the UBC to determine tank removal license
fee, which is based on job valuation. Based on this information, it would be my
recommendation that we adopt the same fee schedule, with a $50.00 minimum. A typical
tank removal has ajob valuation of between $1,000 and $4,000. Below are examples of
fees given various valuations:
Job Valuation License Fee
$1,000 $34.75 ($50.00 Minimum would apply)
$2,000 $62.25
$3,000 $74.75
$4,000 $87.25
Page 105
