515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: August 5, 1999
RE: Easement for Domestic Water
3058 LaBore Road
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jtm LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Gregory Maranda of 3058 LaBore Road has a well system that has failed and he wishes to tie
into City Water.
Mr. Maranda has two tie -in choices:
1. Tie into our water main that runs under the newly constructed LaBore Road; or
2. Tie into our loop water line to Maple Leaf Court that runs through City park land
under the power lines.
If he ties into our water line under LaBore Road, he would need to tear up the northbound land in
order to make the connection. If he ties into our loop to Maple Leaf Court, there would be very
minor impact to our undeveloped park property. However, he would need an easement from us
to locate his water service through our property.
Based on the above, I feel the least disruption to our community would be for Mr. Maranda to tie
into our loop water line to Maple Leaf Court. Therefore, I recommend that the Council
authorize staff to execute a 20 -foot wide easement through our park property enabling Mr.
Maranda to connect to our loop water line to Maple Leaf Court.
GS:kp
Page 112
