515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
C
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director A
DATE: September 16, 1999
RE: Truck Traffic Restriction on County Road B2
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL,
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Now that the first phase of roadwork on LaBore Road is nearing completion, we need to address
the type of traffic the City wants to have travel on this road
I received a complaint stating large semi - trucks are traveling on this road (see attached letter).
Obviously, the smooth, wide road is attractive to these drivers. However, there are no
commercial uses located along County Road B2 between Edgerton Street and Arcade Street.
Further, there is no need for large trucks to travel this section of road as they have good road
access to other truck routes along Highways 36 and 61.
If the Council wishes to restrict truck traffic on this section of County Road B2, I recommend
that signage be at both ends as shown on the attached sketch. The proposed signage is the same
signage we installed on LaBore Road. It has been reviewed by the Sheriff's office and they feel
they can enforce it.
GS:kp
Enclosure
PAGE 142
