515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: September 3, 1999
RE: Rice Street/Little Canada Road Update
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Redevelopment Project:
One week ago, I was involved in meetings with representatives of two different theatre
groups. They both seemed interested in the redevelopment project and were in the
process of commencing lease discussions with the Collyard /Christenson development
group. While these meetings were encouraging, it is my belief there is a long way to go
before a project could move forward. It is also important to remember that no proposal
is currently before us for consideration.
Guerin Eminent Domain Proceedings:
The Commissioners have requested another extension to consider the award amount
associated with these proceedings. The City Attorney may provide further insight on
this matter.
Little Canada Road Reconstruction:
Terry Maurer is reviewing the County's draft feasibility study for the reconstruction of
Little Canada Road and the streetscape information. (It appears the County will transfer
that decision on selecting a design engineer to us thereby allowing HRG to do the work
on our behalf.) Our goal is to get the feasibility study in final form so we can bring it to
the council for your consideration to start the public improvement process.
Page 79
