MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
OCTOBER 14, 1999
PROPERTY
DIVISION —
2817
EDGERTON —
DON RADA
NUMBER OF
SIGNS ON A
COMMERCIAL
PROPERTY
The City Planner noted that the Code allows directional signs and
suggested that the monument sign be at another location with a
smaller directional sign at the entrance to the office park. The
Planner pointed out that directional signs can be up to 4 square feet
is size and do not count against the signage requirement for a
property.
Barraclough recommended approval of the Final Plat, Final PUD,
and Architectural Review for Blacktern Office Park subject to
locating a monument sign further to the north on the site and
adding directional signage at the entrance to the office park and
subject to compliance with the recommendations of the City
Planner, City Engineer, and City staff.
Motion seconded by Kraemer.
Motion carried 5 — 0.
It was noted that a property division had been approved a few
years ago for the Don Rada property at 2817 Edgerton Street. That
approval has lapsed, however, because the property owner did not
have the division recorded within the one year time frame. The
City Administrator reported that the property division proposed
this evening is the same as was previously presented.
The Commission clarified that the lot dimensions are actually 85
feet for the lot with the existing home at 2817 Edgerton Street, and
115 feet for the new lot that is being creased.
Keis recommended approval of the Property Division for 2817
Edgerton Street as requested by Mr. Don Rada, subject to
compliance with the recommendations of City staff.
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 5 — 0.
The City Planner reported that the new owners of The Porter
House Steak and Seafood Grill would like to have signage on two
sides of their building as well as a freestanding pylon sign. The
current ordinance allows only one wall sign and one freestanding
sign, although he pointed out that most cities allow two wall signs
for a commercial business. The Planner recommended approval of
Page 53
