515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: May 7, 1999
RE: Rice Street/Little Canada Road Redevelopment Update
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
No specific information has been received on this topic since our last meeting. However, I do
have meetings scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th with the Christenson/Collyard development
group and with Sherman Rutzik.
The environmental report on the Guerin property is supposed to be received any day now. The
City Attorney will then address this matter with the appraiser from a property valuation
standpoint.
I have also had one call from someone looking for an office building site. This would be an
owner occupied facility of approximately 45,000 square feet contained within two stories. While
this was a preliminary inquiry, it does show there is an awareness and interest in our
redevelopment area. It should also be noted that this individual told me the concem in building
this structure would be the surrounding land uses that would continue to exist. That again shows
the need for a comprehensive redevelopment effort.
JRH:kpp
cc: Sherman Rutzik
Gary Collyard
Page 9
