515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: April 23, 1999
RE: Gordie's Place, Inc. -- Revision to Conditional Use Permit
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Miamian
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a site plan we approved for the boot hockey facility to be constructed at Gordie's
Place, Inc. (This approval was made last September.) It has come to my attention that Gordie's
would like to move this rink to the north of the existing volleyball court to minimize
maintenance issues created by the joint use of this area. To do so would also require filling in
this area.
While the concept is not changing and use is not encroaching further upon Fleur Royale
Condominiums, it does constitute a change over what was approved last September. The Planner
has informed me that these types of changes can sometimes be handled administratively or be
required to go through the entire CUP revision process subject to the determination of each city.
In reviewing the ordinance, the specific course of action required is not clear. Therefore, I would
like the Council's direction on this matter. The Planner will be prepared to comment on the
procedural issues associated with this situation.
JRH:kpp
Enclosure
cc: Dave Cossack
Page 174
