Bill Hughes — Ramsey County Emergency Services <br />• Shelters — Red Cross and Salvation Army will be responsible for set -up. <br />• Computer Aided Dispatch will be updated in June. <br />• County is working on plans to get all cities in Ramsey County (City <br />Administrators) together for meeting to discuss Y2K efforts. <br />• 694 & Rice is the Ramsey County Emergency Center <br />• Sirens are Y2K compliant. <br />• County is working with Ham radio operators for additional communications <br />capability. <br />• County has on -site gasoline pumps and power sources for power. <br />• Some cities are setting up "help" sites to assist residents who have <br />emergencies. <br />• Reaction by citizens is largest concern. <br />• Maplewood has plans to use Community Center for shelter & Y2K party for <br />staff. <br />• Bethel College may be used as a shelter. <br />• Red Cross will have three teams to open shelters if necessary. <br />• Red Cross has a list of shelter locations that County will probably compile and <br />distribute at a later date. <br />2. Jim Daly — Ramsey County Sheriffs Department <br />• Sheriffs department plans on doubling staff in each car (2 officers per car). <br />• They have a generator. <br />• Dispatch system is Y2K compliant. <br />• They have reserve units and 90 court deputies if needed in an emergency <br />situation. <br />Page 180 <br />
