U S WEST Wireless, L.L.C.
426 North Fairview, Room 101
St. Paul, MN 55104
111
City of Little Canada
Attn: Ms. Kathy Glanzer
Deputy Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
February 22, 1999
life's better here'
RE: CUP Application for a fifty- eight (58) foot US West Wireless antenna
support system to be used for PCS services, located at 300 Little Canada
Road East, Little Canada, MN. Zoned B -3
Site No. MIN -242
Dear Ms. Glanzer
This letter is designed to comply with the application procedures for a Conditional Use
Permit to receive approval for a US West Wireless Personal Communications Services
(PCS) antenna array with a monopole support system to be located at 300 Little Canada
Road East, Little Canada.
US West Wireless has been granted a license by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) and has recently deployed a wireless (PCS) system serving Little
Canada and the Twin City area.
To fulfill its mandate from the FCC, US West Wireless has developed a grid of antenna
throughout its service area. These facilities must be spaced, depending on certain
technical and geographical variables, at intervals approximately two (2) miles from each
other and at a height ranging form forty (40) to one hundred twenty (120) feet above
ground level. US West Wireless has installed over one hundred fifty (150) facilities
throughout the entire Metropolitan area in order to "turn on" the initial network. Of these
facilities, approximately ninety (90) have required the use of monopoles. It is expected
that as more "fill in" facilities are developed, the average antenna heights will be between
fifty (50) and seventy -five (75) feet.
The intent of the deployed system will be to provide PCS service to all Twin City area
communities. Since US West Wireless intends to utilize PCS as an affordable Wireless
Local Loop service, coverage at the neighborhood level is essential (unlike traditional
Cellular, which is typically a higher -cost mobile service).
USA
o ^u
36USC380
Proud Sponsor
Page 37
