1. Communications towers are only allowed by a conditional use permit in Commercial
and Industrial districts.
The proposed site is zoned 13-3
2. The height limit for towers on B -3 property is 75 feet.
The proposed monopole is fifty -eight feet tall including lightning rod.
3. Towers must be set back equal to the specific "fall zone" of the proposed tower as
determined and certified by a qualified and licensed professional engineer, but in no
case less than the principal structure setback of the base zoning district.
The proposed monopole is designed to bend and twist to offload extremely high
winds. This is evidenced by the attached ( "Exhibit A ").
4. The height of the antenna shall be the minimum necessary to function satisfactorily,
as verified by a professional radio frequency engineer.
As indicated in the attached ( "Exhibit B "), 58 feet is the minimum height that allows
the proposed facility to function properly. There are no other existing structures in
the vicinity that can accommodate US West's antennas and allow the site to function
as required.
5. Towers up to 120 feet tall must be silver or galvanized and be designed to
accommodate one additional user.
US West has designed this facility to accommodate one additional user. The
monopole will be galvanized in color.
US West Wireless hopes this correspondence and enclosures address all issues. Should
you have additional questions regarding the attached information or would like to discuss
PCS technology further, please contact us at 612/642 -6279.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this application.
Res ectfully,
Kenneth L. Nielsen,
US West Wireless
Page 39
