"First Tier" is in four stages. Route S is projected in stage 4 of the program. Two
stations have been proposed in Little Canada. (Map attached)
6. The memo received from Commissioner Reinhardt concems a potential future
route outside the current study completed by Mn /DOT and the resolution
represents a commitment to participate in the Rush Line Task Force and support
its process. This route has been named the Rush Line.
7. The Rush Line Corridor Task Force membership includes cities, towns and
regional railroad authorities whose jurisdictions lies wholly or partially within one
mile one either side of the Corridor.
8. The City of Little Canada has been identified to be within this jurisdiction. Each
unit of government within one mile on either side of the Corridor is entitled to one
representative on the Rush Line Corridor Task Force and each member has one
vote. The Rush Line Corridor Task Force meets quarterly.
Issues
1. Whether City of Little Canada participates on the Rush Line Task Force?
2. Whether to adopt the Resolution Supporting the Communities working together
as a group to establish common goals and plan for Rail Transit and Trails in the
Corridor? (The sample resolution is attached.)
Recommendation
1. Staff would recommend participating in this group given the possible impact upon
our City. We would also recommend adopting the sample resolution.
Page 14
