LITTLE CANADA
PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT
515 Little Canada Road / Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
Telephone: (651) 484 -2177 / Fax: (651) 484 -4538
JIM MORELAN, Director
DON BOWMAN, Program Coordinator
DEREK ANDERSON, Program Coordinator
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
DATE: February 19, 1999
RE: Trail Grant Application
Over the past several weeks, I have been working with Bill Sanders and the Trail Sub -
Committee of the Parks & Recreation Commission in regard to a grant application (draft
copy attached) to upgrade the trails in Spooner Park that were constructed in the mid -
1970's. The estimated cost of the project as listed in the grant application is $94,000.
The grant requires a 50% "cash match" from the City, and we have that amount in the
budget for this purpose.
One of the requirements for the grant is to have the City Council adopt a resolution
stating its support of the project and its commitment of $47,000 in funds to match the
grant amount if it is awarded to us. I would recommend the passing of such a resolution
by the Council at your February 24th meeting.
PanA 7G
