Ce4/ 9dff4 C Salk'
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: May 21, 1999
RE: Little Canada Historical Society — Charitable Gambling
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a letter from the Little Canada Historical Society requesting that the Council
consider allocating a night at the Little Canada Bingo Hall to their organization. It is my
understanding that Lake Owasso is willing to release one of their nights to the Historical
Society. As you know, Lake Owasso currently has two nights, North Suburban Youth
has one, and Little Canada Charity Plus has the remaining four nights.
Lake Owasso's current license runs through August 31, 1999, and they will be submitting
renewal forms for the Council's consideration in the very near future. Therefore, prior to
submission of the renewal, Lake Owasso would like direction from the Council whether
to apply for two days at the Bingo Hall or for one.
There has also been interest expressed on the part of Bob Grootwassink, owner of the
Market Place Shopping Center, to add gambling sessions. There are currently two
evening sessions on Sunday's through Saturday's and morning sessions on Thursday's
and Friday's. Grootwassink is suggesting the addition of either morning or afternoon
sessions on Saturday's and Sunday's. The charities' positions on this matter is unknown.
cc: Little Canada Historical Society
Lake Owasso
Little Canada Charities Plus
North Suburban Youth Association
Bob Grootwassink
Page 131
