5. Vendors to be considered will be evaluated based on <br />their industry reputation and adequacy of their <br />product. Items to be considered would include past <br />track record, stature within the industry, ability to <br />provide adequate service to the unit, quality of the <br />product, financial strength of the firm, accessibility <br />to parts and repairs, and recommendations from other <br />jurisdictions who have purchased similar equipment. <br />Vendors located within the State of Minnesota are to be <br />given added consideration in accordance with these <br />factors. <br />6. Available resources such as model specifications from <br />the Minnesota Fire Center and other jurisdictions which <br />have purchased similar equipment will be utilized with <br />appropriate modifications. <br />C. Purchasing: <br />Purchasing is to be done by sealed bids based on <br />competitive specifications prepared by the Fire Department <br />and approved by the City Council. Bidding will be done by <br />"invitation only" with at least three vendors to be included <br />in this process. It is understood that the right to award <br />the bid will be based on the "best interests" as determined <br />by the Little Canada Fire Department. Lowest price will not <br />be the sole determining factor. Regardless of the funding <br />source, the Fire Department is to make the actual purchase <br />Page 5 <br />
