MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 23, 1993
review of purchase scheduled by both the City Council
and Fire Department.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93 -6 -194 - APPROVING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
VEHICULAR PURCHASING POLICY AS PRESENTED AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Hanson, Scalze, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PURCHASE The City Administrator reviewed quotes for replacement
OF COPIER of the City's copy machine which was purchased in 1987.
The Administrator commended Kris Vanschoonhoven for her
research and negotiations for the new copier and
service arrangement.
The City Administrator pointed out the request of
Public Works for a copy machine at the City Garage as
well as the Historical Society for a machine at the old
Fire Station. The Administrator reported that
VanSchoonhoven has negotiated the City's retention of
its current machine as well as a favorable service
arrangement for that machine. Therefore, the existing
copy machine can be moved to the City Garage. A table
top copy machine has been quoted for the Historical
Society at a cost of $1,415 by D.C. Hey, while the new
copy machine for City Hall was quoted at $9,445.
The City Administrator recommended that the cost of the
new copy machine for City Hall come from the 3%
gambling enforcement fund due to the significant amount
of copying done in gambling enforcement as well as the
fact that the City does not recoup overhead costs for
enforcement.
Morelan did not believe the City made $9,500 in copies
for charitable gambling, and questioned the use of the
3% money for the purchase of the copy machine. Morelan
asked if employee costs associated with charitable
gambling had been charged against the 3% fund.
The City Administrator replied that at this time the
transfer of employee costs against the 3% fund has not
been made. The Administrator reported that he has not
finalized how this transfer will occur, although the
City has documentation to support employee costs
associated with charitable gambling.
Page 13
Page 8
