515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: October 16, 1998
RE: Planning Commission Vacancies
Parks & Recreation Commission Vacancies
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Moreton
Bob Pedersen
ADMIIJISIRATOR
Joel R Hanson
As you are aware, Fred Schletty's service on the Planning Commission expired effective
October, 1998 pursuant to the City's attendance requirements. In addition to this
vacancy, the terms of Dan Knudsen and Rick Montour expire on December, 1998.
(Fred's position would also have expired December, 1998.)
As a result, City staff is requesting authorization to advertise these vacancies. It would
be my recommendation that all three vacancies be advertised at once with the three
positions to be appointed for three -year terms effective January 1, 1999. There shouldn't
be a problem with the Planning Commission being short a member during the months of
November and December. Typically from a planning standpoint, those meeting are fairly
light.
Also, the terms of Karen Johnson, Matt Anderson, and Ginger Sackett Glaser expire on
December 31, 1998. Again, I am requesting authorization to advertise these vacancies
for appointment effective January I, 1999 for three year terms.
Page 13
