MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 10, 1998
The Commission asked about the Council's discussion of screening issues.
The Deputy Clerk recapped the Council's discussion noting that given the
height of the condo building it would be difficult to screen the volleyball
court. The Council left the option open to require screening in the future
should there be the need to do so.
Knudsen asked if there was an issue with the proximity of the boot hockey
court to the office building on the east. The Planner indicated that the
court would have to be located on the Gordies' property. There would be
no conflict with the recreational use and the office building unless there
are balls flying from the court onto this property. The applicant has
indicated that netting would be installed to prevent this.
Montour asked if there have been any complaints about the volleyball
court. The Code Enforcement Officer indicated that she has been doing
code enforcement since May and has received no complaints about this
use.
Montour suggested that the CUP could be approved with a review period.
The Commission discussed whether a three -year or five -year review
period wound be appropriate. Cossack requested a five -year review noting
that it will take some time to get boot hockey leagues going.
Mr. Montour recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit for
boot hockey at Gordies' Place as requested by Mr. Cossack, with boot
hockey being allowed six nights per week between the hours of 6 P.M.
through 10 P.M., allowing up to three boot hockey tournaments per year,
requiring any additional lighting that is installed faces away from the
condominium building, reserving the right to require the court be screened
should concerns arise, and placing a three -year review on the CUP.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
CUP<TOr„ IGVE Mr. Charles Meyer, 2900 Edgerton Street, appeared before the
Commission requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit so he can
OL'f'FfYSITE move a 16 -foot by 22 -foot garage onto his property.
