Hanson
In an effort to share the year's successes and recognize the contributions of many of our
citizens, the City of Little Canada will participate in Cities Week, Oct 5 -11. This year the theme
is Celebrating Caring Communities. Cities Week is a chance for City Hall to open its doors and
invite our neighbors and friends to learn more about our community and what our city has
accomplished over the past year. Citizen involvement in their city is essential, from volunteering
to serve in public office, to simply understanding the government that is closest to the people.
The City of Little Canada Staff is hoping the entire community will join our Mayor,
Council members, and Citizens at City Hall's Open House, 11:30 a.m. — 4:00 p.m., Sunday,
October 11, 1998.
Events:
• Historical Society Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony at 2:00 p.m.
• Crimewatch Display
(Kid -print, McGruff "The Crime Dog ", K -9 Demo at 3:30 p.m.)
• Child TV Screen Exposure at Event in Council Chambers (If I were Mayor for a day,
I would...)
• Display Vehicles (Public Works, Fire Dept. and Sheriff's Dept.)
• Display Tables
• Water Tower Tour
• Door Prizes
• Refreshments
Cities week is an annual statewide celebration of cities. It is sponsored by the League of
Minnesota Cities to recognize cities' work in developing communities, and encourage citizen
understanding of and participation in their Local government.
The attached documents are included for informational purposes. I recommend the
adoption of the proclamation announcing cities week. If you have any additions, questions, or
comments please contact Elizabeth Mursko or Joel Hanson at your convenience.
Page 50
