MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MARCH 12, 1998 <br />Motion seconded by Carson. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />CUP FOR OFF- The City Planner reported that the City has applied for a Conditional <br />PREMISE Use Permit to allow off - premise parking for the Old Fire Hall at the City <br />PARKING — lot located at the corner of Little Canada Road and McMenemy. Given <br />OLD FIRE the capacity of the building, the parking lot at the Old Fire Hall is not <br />HALL adequate; therefore, off - premise parking must be utilized. While the City <br />has limited the capacity at the Old Fire Hall for rental situations to what <br />can be accommodated in the on- premise parking lot, there are occasions <br />when overflow parking are needed. The Planner also reported that the lot <br />at Little Canada Road and McMenemy Road is adequate in size to <br />supplement the parking for the Old Fire Hall meeting Code requirements. <br />Mr. Keis recommended approval of a Conditional Use Permit allowing <br />off - premise parking for the Old Fire Hall at the City-owned parking lot <br />located at the corner of Little Canada Road and McMenemy Road. <br />Motion seconded by Knudsen. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />CUP FOR OFF- The City Planner reported that off - premise parking will be necessary for <br />PREMISE the City Center to accommodate parking requirements once the Historical <br />PARKING — Society Addition is constructed. This off- premise parking can be <br />CITY CENTER accommodated via an agreement with Norm's Tires to allow overflow <br />parking in their parking lot. <br />Norm Strohbeen reported that he was agreeable to this arrangement. <br />The Planner did not believe the traffic to the Historical Society Addition <br />would generate the use of many parking spaces, however, parking <br />requirements must be met. <br />Keis asked what would happen if Norm's Tires changed ownership. <br />The Planner indicated that the City would have an agreement with the <br />property owner that could be recorded against the property. <br />Mr. Montour recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit <br />allowing off - premise parking for the City Center utilizing the parking lot <br />of Norm's Tires as overflow parking. <br />Page 14 <br />
