515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R Ranson, City Administrator
DATE: March 11, 1998
RE: Restructuring of Code Enforcement/Secretarial Position
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
It is with regrets that I inform you of Mary Granley's decision to take a position with
another city. As you are all aware, Mary has done an excellent job for us serving in the
unique position of Code Enforcement Officer /Secretary. While we regret losing Mary,
we are happy for her success in finding a position in which she can practice her code
enforcement skills on a full -time basis.
It is my belief that it will not be possible to fill Mary's position with one individual
working in a full -time capacity. Therefore, I am recommending that we address code
enforcement for the remainder of the season by hiring a Code Enforcement Intern. I
would propose that the Code Enforcement Intern would be a temporary, full -time
position for a period of five to six months. I am further recommending that the
secretarial portion of the position be filled with a part-time Secretary/Payroll Clerk. I
anticipate that this position would consist of approximately 20 to 24 hours per week.
While health insurance benefits would not be offered, pro -rated sick and vacation time
would.
PAGE 2
