Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
With the revisions to the legislation governing the expenditures of 10% Funds and based
on commitments we made to representatives of our charities, I am recommending we
convene the 10% Committee to discuss the allocation of possible expenditures. We
currently have a balance of $155,279.75 in the 10% Fund.
Eligible items for expenditure would include Parks & Recreation programs, activities,
equipment, and facilities to benefit predominantly people under 21 years of age, or
police, fire, and other emergency or public- safety related services, equipment, and
training excluding pension obligations. The Gambling Control Board also informed us
that the money would be appropriately spent on the Historical Society, but State Statute
limits us to $2,000 per year. We have already allocated $1,600 for this purpose.
I would suggest we solicit suggestions for the expenditure of these funds from our
various groups. I would also recommend that we look at the allocation of General
Capital Improvement Fund expenditures (Fund 400) to see if any of those should be
reallocated to the 10% Fund.
I would like Council authorization to proceed subject to any direction you may have to
govern this process.
Page 84
