Staff Report

To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council

From: Laura Linehan, Assistant City Administrator

Date: May 12, 2026

Re: Brand and Logo Refresh Design Project Update

Action To Be Considered:
Motion to approve, table, or deny the following:
• No formal action, however, staff will ask for direction on two design components.
Following direction, staff will bring forward the finalized brand to the City Council for
formal adoption at the May 27 City Council meeting.

Background:
At the March 25 City Council Meeting, the City Council approved staff to enter into a professional
services agreement with Neuger for brand and logo refresh design services following a successful
Request for Proposal process.

Existing Logo
Based on historical records, the current city logo has been utilized since 1976. The logo, originally a
bright red, was adjusted to a more muted shade of red in early 2022.

Brand and Logo Refresh Design Services:
The goals for this brand and logo redesign include:
• Design and produce a modernized adaptation of the current city logo with updated
typography.
• Provide recommended brand color palettes that include primary, secondary, and grayscale
palettes
• Provide three to four “graphic elements” to complement the city’s logo that can be utilized
as part of the city’s website redesign and print materials.
• Provide designs compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA in all applicable categories.
• Provide all raw design files to city following project completion. City shall be owners of
materials.
• Redesigning the city’s quarterly print newsletter.

Design Project and Touchpoints:
Staff have been meeting weekly with Neuger, and the project remains on track with our timeline.

The week of April 17, staff held separate meetings with council members to review the initial font
selections, color palette, and icon design. The purpose of these meetings was to ensure staff were
headed in the right direction. At those meetings, council members were supportive of the color
palette and font selection.
