<br /> <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />From: Laura Linehan, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Date: May 12, 2026 <br /> <br />Re: Brand and Logo Refresh Design Project Update <br /> <br />Action To Be Considered: <br />Motion to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• No formal action, however, staff will ask for direction on two design components. <br />Following direction, staff will bring forward the finalized brand to the City Council for <br />formal adoption at the May 27 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Background: <br />At the March 25 City Council Meeting, the City Council approved staff to enter into a professional <br />services agreement with Neuger for brand and logo refresh design services following a successful <br />Request for Proposal process. <br /> <br />Existing Logo <br />Based on historical records, the current city logo has been utilized since 1976. The logo, originally a <br />bright red, was adjusted to a more muted shade of red in early 2022. <br /> <br />Brand and Logo Refresh Design Services: <br />The goals for this brand and logo redesign include: <br />• Design and produce a modernized adaptation of the current city logo with updated <br />typography. <br />• Provide recommended brand color palettes that include primary, secondary, and grayscale <br />palettes <br />• Provide three to four “graphic elements” to complement the city’s logo that can be utilized <br />as part of the city’s website redesign and print materials. <br />• Provide designs compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA in all applicable categories. <br />• Provide all raw design files to city following project completion. City shall be owners of <br />materials. <br />• Redesigning the city’s quarterly print newsletter. <br /> <br />Design Project and Touchpoints: <br />Staff have been meeting weekly with Neuger, and the project remains on track with our timeline. <br /> <br />The week of April 17, staff held separate meetings with council members to review the initial font <br />selections, color palette, and icon design. The purpose of these meetings was to ensure staff were <br />headed in the right direction. At those meetings, council members were supportive of the color <br />palette and font selection. <br />
