NAHAI 612 490 9981
January 26, 1998
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road East
Little Canada MN 55117 -1600
Dear Mayor Fahey,
Council Members Scalze, Morelan, LaValle, and Petersen,
City Administrator Hanson;
6124909981 P.01
I am writing to urge you not to approve the application by Patrina Park Terrace/Masterpiece
Homes, Inc., for a Conditional Use Permit, for temporary off -premise signage.
Little Canada, like much of the Twin Cities, has been inundated with unauthorized signage. Signs
are nailed to utility poles, and stuck in the ground. Much of this unauthorized signage is from real
estate companies who blight the landscape with their signs stuck into the ground at every corner.
There is no reason why this industry, or any other, should be allowed to litter our neighborhoods
in this manner.
Our city has been cleaned up and is looking great. Vadnais Heights and Shoreview are also
working to have their unauthorized signage removed. Since the CHORE project participants and
volunteers began the program, several months ago, over 400 unauthorized signs have been
removed. There is a noticeable difference when you drive into communities that are not enforcing
their sign ordinances, and Little Canada. 1 commend all of you, and the Little Canada Code
Enforcement Officer, for taking the lead in providing Little Canada residents with a better visual
environment.
Please continue the progress we have made in cleaning up our city. Do not approve this
application by Masterpiece Homes to litter our city with their signs.
Sincerely;
Daniel Mahal
620 Keller Parkway
Little Canada MN 55117 -1234
PH- 482 -7628
Fax- 490-9981
Page 1
