CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION <br />1998 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is authorized by law to provide fire protection for all of the property <br />in said City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, is a volunteer fire department, operating as <br />a non -profit association under the laws of the State of Minnesota and owns certain fire equipment, trucks, etc., for <br />fighting fires, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Little Canada and the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, <br />hereinafter referred to as the City and the Fire Department, respectively, in consideration of the following provisions <br />and covenants, do hereby enter into this contract and agreement on the day and date hereunto subscribed. <br />1. The City hereby engages the services of the Fire Department to answer fire calls and fight fires and <br />generally to provide fire protection to public and private property within the City of Little Canada for a period of <br />one (1) year commencing January 1, 1998, and terminating December 31, 1998. <br />2. The Fire Department agrees to answer all fire calls directed to it by the public for assistance in <br />fighting fires of any nature and description within the legal limits of the City. <br />3. The Fire Department will provide First Responder level services in connection with hazardous <br />materials incidents. In addition, the City has contracted with the City of St. Paul to provide response for <br />containment and securing of hazardous materials incidents occurring within the City of Little Canada. The annual <br />fee for this contract will be paid by the City. All costs above and beyond this amount are the responsibility of the <br />City. <br />4. The City agrees to pay to the Fire Department for its services during the period above specified, and <br />the Fire Department agrees to accept as full remuneration for its services during the said period, the sum of $163,016 <br />payable in fourths with the first payment due upon the effective date of this contract. Subsequent payments to be <br />due on April 1st, July 1st, and October lst. <br />5. For 1998, the City shall pay to the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Relief Association a sum equal to <br />$18,000 within 30 days of receipt of Fire State Aid from the State of Minnesota. <br />6. The Fire Department shall furnish the City by March 15th of the year following the current contract <br />an accurate accounting of actual operating expenses for the year just completed. <br />7. The Fire Department shall duly record relevant facts and information regarding each fire or <br />hazardous materials incident to which it responds, and shall make such facts and information available to the City <br />when requested. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />Page 20 <br />
