Hanson <br />Thirteen applications were received for the position of Public Works Director. We <br />initially interviewed five candidates (the sixth withdrew from the interview process), and <br />the three finalists were interviewed by Mayor Fahey, Council Member Morelan, and me <br />on Monday evening. It was the consensus of our group to recommend Greg Schroeder be <br />hired as Public Works Director. It is my recommendation he be hired based on the <br />following: <br />• Salary Range of: <br />Start 1 2 3 4 5 <br />50,986 53,356 55,865 58,492 61,241 64,043 <br />• Starting salary of $60,000 payable through 1999; <br />• One week of accrued vacation at the start of employment, eligibility for one <br />week's additional vacation (available to department heads subject to <br />satisfactory performance) on 1/1/99 and each year thereafter, and normal <br />accrual of vacation based on two weeks per year (1 -5 years) as outlined in our <br />Personnel Policy; <br />• Ten days of sick leave banked at the start of employment, and accrual at the <br />rate of one day per month as outlined in our Personnel Policy; <br />• The City would pay memberships in customary associations; <br />• The assignment of a take -home vehicle for business use only (versus mileage) <br />subject to further analysis of vehicle assignment; <br />• One month's severance pay should City terminate his employment as was <br />provided for in the previous Public Works Director's employment agreement; <br />• Subject to execution of an employment agreement outlining the terms above <br />as well as other customary language; <br />• Subject to a satisfactory physical examination. <br />Page 8 <br />
