Memo <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />RE: <br />c1 RING . flSSO(lflTZS <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />Lee Elfering, City Engineer <br />November 3, 2012 <br />Interceptor 1 -LC -421 Improvement Project <br />Bids were opened for the above referenced project at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, <br />October 31, 2012 in accordance with the Advertisement for Bids. The project consists <br />of the improvement of the Metropolitan Council of Environmental Services (Met Council) <br />Sanitary Interceptor 1 -LC -421 by means of abandoning the segments no longer <br />conveying sanitary flow, slip lining of several segments with a new 12" PVC sewer pipe, <br />and the realignment of one segment of the line. This work is being performed to <br />eliminate the infiltration and inflow of ground water into the sanitary system, modify the <br />line size and location to allow cleaning by City crews, and to bring the sanitary line to an <br />acceptable standard for turnback to the City of Little Canada. As per the turnback <br />agreement between the City and Met Council, the design, construction, and construction <br />administration costs for the work will be reimbursed by Met Council. <br />There were five (5) companies that submitted bids for the work and the results are listed <br />below: <br />Corporation <br />Lametti & Sons, Inc. <br />Geislinger & Sons, Inc. <br />Minger Construction, Inc. <br />LaTour Construction, Inc. <br />Engineering & Construction Innovations <br />Total Bid <br />$436,700.00 <br />$548,175.00 <br />$548,946.00 <br />$552,560.00 <br />$610,460.00 <br />ruu( uoulu <br />The low bid price received for the work was $19,100.00 more than the $417,600.00 <br />estimated in the agreement with Met Council. We provided the bid tabulation to Met <br />Council and they have provided a letter approving the bid and recommending award of <br />the project to the low bidder Lametti & Sons, Inc. We are aware of similar projects of <br />this nature that have been completed successfully by Lametti & Sons, Inc. for Met <br />Council and we consider them a responsive and responsible bidder. Based on the <br />receipt of Met Council's letter we would recommend award of the project to the low <br />bidder Lametti & Sons, Inc. in the amount of $436,700.00.
