Little Canada, MN 55117 December 6'h, 2012 Dear City Administrator: This is my letter of interest for the Little Canada Parks & Recreation Commission. As an active outdoors person that regularly jog and bike, I fully appreciate the luxury of living in a community with access to parks and recreation activities. Having lived in different parts of the country, I have learned to not take the parks and trails for granted, especially here in the Twin Cities. I have a strong belief that in order for a community to come together and thrive, we must have a culture of interaction. This interaction can be achieved through designing infrastructures where it is feasible for people to walk through their city trails or come together during special events or picnics at the parks. The health of the community is dependent on its people and resource. In order to attract and retain its vibrant citizens, the city must use its parks and recreation as an incentive. We know that when people choose a place to live, they are looking for access to parks and recreation where they can take their families or pets out. My professional background is in education, however, I have gained a wealth of knowledge on civic engagement and community building. I have consistently been active in every community that I have lived. I have experience in developing new organizations, sitting and advisory boards, and participating in neighborhood associations and regional planning councils. As a new homeowner, I even more deeply invested about the city's health. I know that I can only thrive as a homeowner if my city and community also thrives.
