Following the workshop discussion, staff will prepare an ordinance format, along with
related amendments that will be necessary to other sections of the zoning ordinance.
Those amendments will primarily consist of clarifications and references to the new
material.
Summary and Recommendation
No specific recommendation is made at this point. The purpose of the workshop is to
examine the existing material toward a consistent City policy approach, and to discuss
issues have come up throughout various neighborhoods. Initially, staff prepared more
focused amendment language, however, it was apparent that most proposed changes
raised new issues with either existing language or called out other gaps.
Consequently, the table and diagram approach was devised with the hope that we
would be able to consolidate all of the elements of the code in a single format that could
be examined either by the type of equipment being kept, or the location a property
owner may have to keep something. It is anticipated that this format, once the
appropriate standards are settled upon, will be beneficial for both the City and for
property owners.
pc: Kathy Glanzer
Steve Westerhaus
Lee Elfering
4
