Hanson
The City of Little Canada launched its website in September of 2001. Since that time, we
have not made any significant changes to its design or content. Our website is a key
communication tool and is many times the first impression people receive of our
community. I believe that it is very important that we keep the website updated and fresh
in appearance. Therefore, I am recommending that we purchase a custom graphic web
design package in the amount of $2,000 from Avenet Web Solutions (aka GovOffice)
that will give us three picture banners (containing up to 5 photos each), a liquid display,
background color, choice of search box placement, as well as the roll over and split
navigation (already present on our current site). The multiple banners can be used to
customize the department pages or they can automatically rotate when users refresh their
screens. Additional banners can be purchased at a cost of $400 /each. This would
provide the capability for Canadian Days and the Little Canada Fire Department (Little
Canada Recreation Association and the Little Canada Historical Society could be offered
the same opportunity also) to have unique pages within our website at a cost dramatically
lower than creating their own website.
In implementing these changes, our current content will roll right into the new design so
there is no need to manually transfer it. Please feel free to view Holmen, Wisconsin's
website (http: / /www.holmenwi.com/) for an example of a site with similar features. We
would also look at any needed revisions in terms of organization or content as part of this
process.
In conjunction with this project, Kristin Pechman of Desktop Impressions has offered her
content enhancement services at half off the normal rate. She would like to better
organize our site and take full advantage of all the amenities that our site has to offer.
Her goal would be to improve its appearance and enhance the ease of use. She would
