Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
RE: Proposed Fire Protection Upgrade Program for the Provinces
Apartments
Last April, the Council directed the committee consisting of the
Fire Chief, The Fire Marshal, and myself to determine the life
safety improvements to be made at the Provinces Apartments with
the $43,000 set aside by Dominium Group for this purpose. We
have finally met with the Dominium representatives and agreed
upon the following work program:
Strobe lights and horns will be installed in the
hallways of both buildings.
Enunciators will be placed in each apartment unit.
(The decibel level of the enunciators will be
determined pursuant to the fire code and with the
assistance of the installer. The Fire Marshal will
review to ensure the sound level is adequate).
Hallway doors will be equipped with magnetic devices to
hold the door open for improved air flow in the
building, but which will release the doors to a closed
position if an alarm is sounded.
Smoke detectors in the hallways will be tied in with
the central monitoring system.
Existing pull stations located in the hallways will be
wired in to the central alarm system.
Additional lock boxes will be installed at the ends of
buildings where they do not presently exist to improve
access for the Fire Department.
Snow removal efforts will be undertaken to ensure
hydrants are kept clear of snow buildup to improve
access for the Fire Department.
Page 21
