515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
January 7, 1997
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: East Rose Place /Vacation & Re- Dedication
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
In reviewing the East Rose Place vacation /re- dedication matter,
the City Attorney discovered that at the time Mr. and Mrs.
Engebretson dedicated East Rose Place to the City, they also
conveyed a narrow strip of land to the City which was located
just south of East Rose Place. Since this strip of land would be
cut off from the balance of the Engebretson property by East Rose
Place, it was felt that the property would be of no use to the
Engebretson's.
As you know the East Rose Place road right -of -way description was
incorrect and runs through the former Engebretson property (now
owned by Chris and Stacia Larson). As a result, the strip of
land which was dedicated to the City just south of East Rose
Place also runs through the Larson property. Therefore, it is
the recommendation of the City Attorney that the City convey this
property to Mr. and Mrs. Larson to clear up any future title
problems for their property which may result otherwise.
As you may recall, a few years ago Mr. and Mrs. Raiolo purchased
a strip of property from Mr. and Mrs. Engebretson and combined it
with their property which abuts Lakeshore Avenue. This is the
strip which was to have been dedicated to the City, never was
because of the incorrect legal description, and has now ceased to
exist because it was combined with the lot at 2601 Lakeshore
Avenue.
If you have any questions, I will try to answer them at this
evening's meeting.
