515 Little Canada Road. Little Canada. MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
Planning Commission
FROM: Greg Schmit, Building Official
DATE: February 13, 1997
RE: Sheds and Accessory Structures
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
In reviewing the proposed ordinance for sheds and accessory structures, I think the reference
in Section 903.020.3.D.2.a. to uses and equipment should either be defined or deleted. The
particular item which may cause problems is central air conditioning condensing units.
Currently, the zoning code Section 903.020.D.8. also states that air conditioning equipment
shall not be located in a required side yard.
This is currently not being strictly enforced and would be difficult to do so. Many of these
units are installed after completion of the home and therefore are only looked at by the
electrical inspector if a permit is taken out.
GS:kv
Page 15
