Little Canada
Fire Department, Inc.
February 18, 1997
Members of the City Council
City of Little Canada
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Council Members:
325 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117 (612) 484-2722
Our organization, Little Canada Voulnteer Fire Dept., had an opportunity to sponsor and
participate in Fund Raising Raffles for Mr. Ronald A. Fisher, our community resident.
Enclosed herewith is a copy of my letter to Ron. As you see in the letter, the Fund Raising event
was a great success and entire costs and expenses including numerous prizes were all donated.
I would like to request for the Council to waive the required 10 % contribution on the net profit
from this onetime and exceptional raffles for the following reasons.
1. Fund raising was not conducted in our ordinary course of business, but for the
specific purpose of assisting our community resident who was involved in
an unfortunate accident.
2. As stated earlier, all prizes, costs, and expenses were contributed by numerous
friends of Ron and the net profit, therefore, is not a true profit, but a substantial, if
not the entire, portion of the nominal profit is an aggregate of donations intended
for Ron by his friends.
3. Waiving of the required 10% contribution, in my opinion, is a right thing to do and
will earn a many goodwill from the City residents and Ron's friends.
Sincerely hoping that this special request for the City to waive the required 10% contribution
would be granted by the Council, I remain.
Very
•
Ri• ' and E. Boss, III
Fire Chief
Page 44
