Hanson As previously requested by the Council, I have contacted the Little Canada Fire Department as well as the Little Canada Recreation Association regarding the possibility of the City's renting the lower level of the Old Fire Hall. As you know, the Fire Department owns the tables and chairs at the Old Fire Hall. They have no problem with the use of those tables and chairs by anyone renting the Old Fire Hall. However, they indicated that this equipment is in rough shape, and the City may want to consider purchasing some new tables and chairs if the decision is made to rent this facility. Attached for your information is a letter from John Keis, LCRA, outlining their position on the matter. Another attachment is a survey I did of neighboring cities which outlines facilities they are renting to the public, capacity of those facilities, rental rates, etc. As a piece of additional information, I also obtained the rental rates at St. John's and the Little Canada Rental Hall. They are as follows: St. John's - $15/Hour if a group wants to use the gymnasium for basketball, etc. For large rentals - $400 (this includes set -up and clean -up); $100 deposit if no alcohol is served; $300 deposit if alcohol served, plus security guard must be provided at the renter's expense; $65 for general liability insurance which the renter must purchase through the archdiocese.
