515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Scott R. Tangen, Public Works Director
DATE: May 28, 1997
RE: Petrina Park Terrace Development
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
I have been in contact with Gordie Howe regarding the islands at each end of this development.
Installing the islands will increase the difficulty of snowplowing, but not significantly.
Following are some of the items that need to be addressed regarding the islands before they are
approved:
♦ Visibility at the intersections. The islands must be designed and laid out in such a
manner that they do not create a hazardous condition. Paul Heuer is checking into
standards for line and sight distance and height requirements.
♦ Maintenance of the islands. Gordie and I have verbally agreed that they would work it
into their homeowners association so that all maintenance of the structures would be
taken care of by the development.
♦ Type of curb used. I believe we should use a barrier -type curb to minimize damage to the
islands from the snowplows.
SRT:kpv
Page 1
