June 13, 1997
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Attn: Ms. Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
Re: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints
Building Renovation and Addition
2335 Edgerton Street
Dear Ms. Glanzer,
As you know, we are preparing drawings for the above - mentioned project. The existing building is a
single story church with a floor area of 18,967 square feet. This project involves upgrading the
energy efficiency of the building, new interior finishes and a 873 square foot addition.
During the plan review, we were informed that the entire structure must have a special fire protection
system (sprinkler) since Little Canada has adopted optional miscellaneous statute Section 1306. To
comply with this statute is literally impossible in the existing structure and we feel unwarranted in
light of such a minor addition (4% of the total area).
Therefore, we request a hearing with the City of Little Canada to consider repealing this requirement.
We understand your next council meeting is Wednesday, June 25, 1997. Please include us on the
agenda and confirm the meeting time.
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours truly,
Dale Langfoss
Registered Architect, AIA
10845 EBBE ROAD/P.O.
