LITTLE CANADA
PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT
515 Little Canada Road / Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
Telephone: (612) 484.2177 / Fax: 484-4538
JIM MORELAN, Director
JACK FITZGERALD, Asst. Director
MICHELLE DeBACE, Program Coordinator
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
DATE: March 4, 1994
RE: Park Development Charge
The Parks and Recreation Commission at its March 3, 1994 meeting
discussed the residential park availability charge ordinance.
I provided information for the discussion, as it related to the
amount of park charge, through a survey that I had our staff
conduct this past week. A copy of that survey is attached.
The result of this discussion was the following motion:
Commissioner Remerowski moved that the City Council establish the
fee for a single family dwelling at $625 and the other
residential fees increase proportionately; second by Johnson;
motion adopted.
This would result in the following fee structure:
Single Family Dwelling
Double Dwelling
Multiple Dwelling (per unit)
Apt. converted to Condominium
$625.00
1,250.00
312.50
312.50
Also, on the Commission's agenda was the Council's request for a
recommendation on whether the Park Acquisition Fund can or should
be used to pay the City's share of the cost of road improvements
abutting park property. Relative to that issue, the Commission
is currently studying and will be compiling a list identifying
future land acquisition needs for park and recreational purposes
within the City. Citing this as one reason, the Commission was
unanimous in their recommendation not to allow the Acquisition
Fund to be used for road improvements.
JM:kv
Enclosure
Page 30
