515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
August 7, 1997
To: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
From: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
Re: Lake Gervais Use Ordinance
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
In response to Rodney Sando's letter on behalf of the DNR as well as comments we have
received regarding canoe launching, a revised water surface use ordinance has been
prepared. (A copy of Mr. Sando's letter and the revised ordinance are enclosed.) Section
1301.050 regarding enforcement is revised per their requirements. Section 1301.030
Boat Launching has been modified to address the concerns of some of our residents
relating to the launching of canoes from other than a public landing. (Ramsey County
Parks Department has indicated they will designate a landing area for this activity on
their park property off Edgerton.)
I want to thank Mr. Mark Weavers for his assistance with these revisions. Once this
ordinance has been adopted, it will be forwarded to the City of Maplewood for their
approval. After adoption by both cities, documentation will be forwarded to the DNR to
complete this process.
cc: Mark Weavers
Dennis Carson
Page 59
