Mark Weavers
789 Carla Lane
Little Canada, MN 55109
August 6, 1997
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
City Administrator
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
Dear Mr. Hanson:
After discussing the proposed non - motorized boat launch change to the Little Canada Ordinance
#452 with Greg Mack of the Ramsey County Parks Dept., it seems appropriate to make some
changes.
Mr. Mack pointed out that:
1. The Ramsey County Ordinance on this subject states that boat launching shall only be
at designated locations.
2. He would be strongly opposed to any boat being launched from a public swimming
area.
3. He would be willing to designated an area via a sign at the Ramsey County Park on
Edgerton St. where non - motorized, hand carried boats could be launched.
With this input I suggest that our lake use Ordinance be reworded to say:
1301.030 BOAT LAUNCHING. Launching and retrieving a motorized
watercraft shall be only from the designated public access boat launch, or
from private property with the owner's permission. Non - motorized, hand
carried watercraft may also be launched and retrieved from public lands as
defined and posted by the Ramsey County Parks Dept.
Finally, I think we now need to also consider changing the title of the Ordinance recognizing non-
motorized boat. Maybe: 1301. MOTORBOATS, NON - MOTORIZED BOATS AND
OTHER MOTORIZED VEHICLES REGULATIONS.
Sincerely yours,
CJ
ark Weavers
ervais Lake Association
c: Mugs Nardini
Greg Mack, Ramsey County Parks Dept.
Page 63
