LCHS be required to fully compensate the City for the increased heating, maintenance,
electricity, janitorial and other city services which would be needed to support the LCHS
addition?
5. Suitable alternatives exist to fulfill the desires of the LCHS. If the projects undertaken
by the LCHS have true historical relevance, they could certainly be performed under the
auspices of another agency, such as the Minnesota Historical Society or the Ramsey
County Historical Society, without the need to embark on an expensive building project. I
have no doubt that our tax dollars also support these organizations, and see no need for
further duplication.
6. Other projects would be a far more valuable use of existing tax levies. I would place
much more value on road maintenance, police and fire protection, and recreation, which
benefit ALL residents, than on the proposed addition, which benefits only a few.
7. Providing LCHS with a building sets the wrong precedent. How can the City turn
down future requests from other civic - minded groups who desire the City to provide them
space on the same terms as LCHS?
8. I believe that the citizens of Little Canada, if fully informed of the circumstances of
the proposed addition, do not and would not support the proposal. I encourage you
to let the citizen taxpayers decide for themselves the propriety and priority of this project.
Place it on the ballot, with a full description of the one -time AND continuing operating
costs!
In summary, I oppose the proposal to build an addition to City Hall. It is a wasteful use of the tax
dollars extracted from the families of Little Canada. Feel free to contact me at 481 -8528 if you
wish to discuss this matter.
Very truly yours,
Michael S. F.
Page 19
