MINU 1ES
PLANNING COMMISSION
OCTOBER 9, 1997
ADJOURN
Schletty pointed out that the Market Place Shopping Center had requested
backlit awnings and the City denied this request. Therefore, the City has
been consistent with this policy. Schletty pointed out that the shopping
center was an existing building that was being revitalized. Schletty
pointed out that Little Canada wants Arby's to locate in the City.
However, the City must be consistent with the application of its policies.
Lawrence stated that his question was just how consistent the City will be
given the precedent that will be set in this case. Lawrence pointed out that
if he waits until the majority of the membership of the Commission
changes, it may be possible to come back and get an application for vinyl
backlit canopies approved.
Keis recommended that the request to allow vinyl backlit canopies on the
Arby's building be denied.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
Barraclough recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M>
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Gla > er
Deputy Clerk
Page 60
