MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
NOVEMBER 13, 1997
PROPERTY
DIVISION —
633 /637 KELLER
PARKWAY —
SPROSTY
Conlin reported that U. S. West is the fifth of the five carriers to get into
this business. Most of the others already have their system up. DeLonais
indicated that with the transmission of data there is the potential for many
companies to get into this business.
Keis stated that he would rather see this co- location on transmission
towers than the construction of additional towers. Keis again pointed out
the City's ability to review each application under the CUP process.
Schletty pointed out that the City will be able to require that all sides of
the equipment buildings be screened.
Dale Runkle, consultant representing A T & T, supported and encouraged
adoption of the ordinance amendment allowing co- locations on
transmission towers. Runkle felt this was preferable to the construction of
individual towers.
Carson stated that he would prefer the ordinance to limit this co- location
to lattice towers, and again expressed his concern about the possibility of
antennae and equipment buildings along Edgerton Street.
The City Planner stated that he would prefer not to see the language
changed limiting antennae to lattice towers given the changing technology.
Knudsen recommended approval of the text amendment to the zoning
Code to allow commercial antennae on existing public utility structures
and associated utility buildings to house equipment package within all
zoning districts as requested by U.S. West Communications subject to
compliance with the recommendations of the City Planner as outlined in
his report dated October 6, 1997.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 7 — 0.
Mr. Paul Sprosty appeared before the Commission requesting approval
of a property division for 633 and 637 Keller Parkway which moves the
shared lot line approximately 36 feet to the southwest. The City Planner
reported that the property division meets the City's minimum ordinance
requirements.
Carson recommended approval of the property division for 633/637 Keller
Parkway was requested by Mr. Paul Sprosty subject to compliance with
Page 21
