Pay them well, make their job as enjoyable as possible, examples: summer employee <br />picnic, volleyball games, etc. They will pass on to peers that a job with the City is <br />enjoyable experience. <br />6. I think retention is more important than recruitment. A positive work environment and <br />fair treatment go a long way. <br />7. High school coaches will help recruit for your positions if you have a 16 year old age <br />limit. <br />8. Contact college placement offices. <br />9. Recommend incentives, increase in wages, and bonuses. <br />10. Students that are in high school athletics usually make good park maintenance employees. <br />11. Vo -Tech Colleges. <br />12. Use exit interview, encourage strong applicants back, have them recruit friends and <br />advertise at the schools. <br />13. Offer job variety, good wages and good working conditions and your staff will recruit <br />for you. <br />14. Work with employment agencies of St. Paul, Minneapolis, Ramsey and Hennepin <br />Counties. Transportation may be an issue, but there are an abundance of youth available <br />for work. <br />15. Many employees come to us from recreation programs as former coaches or umpires. <br />16.
