515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Mary Granley
DATE: May 3, 1996
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
RE: Recommendation on Potential Park Usage of Ruth Street
Property
During the May 2, 1996 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting,
the commission moved to recommend we release our interest in the
Ruth Street property. The following reasons were cited as a
basis for this motion:
• The parcel is low, wet and isolated.
► The parcel of land does not fit into the park master plan.
It should be noted that Mr. Jim Gustafson was present during this
meeting, and expressed an interest in maintaining this parcel
with the express intent it be used as an open space area for
children to play. He requested assistance from the City with the
initial mowing to make the maintenance manageable. He was
advised to seek information from the City Administrator regarding
the possibility of this request.
It was suggested to Mr. Gustafson that he contact Ramsey County
to seek title to this land. Mr. Gustafson stated he would
determine if other area residents were interested in a combined
purchase, and contact the county if necessary.
Page 31
