Staff Report

To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council

From: Carl Jacobson, Finance Director

Date: July 17, 2026

Re: Audit Services Contract Extension

Action To Be Considered:
Motion to approve, table, or deny the following:
• Extension of the contract with Abdo for annual audit services for an additional two
years.
Background:
The City of Little Canada contracted with the Public Accounting firm Abdo to provide audit
services for 2023, 2024, and 2025. The agreement provided the option to continue those
services for 2026 and 2027.

Abdo has provided very good service in performing the audits over the past three years.
Their help and cooperation made our transition to a new finance director much easier and
smoother than it otherwise could have been, and maintained our delivery timeline.

We would see fee increases of $1,500 per year, about 4%, consistent with recent
experience. For the two years, total fees would be as follows:
2026 Audit: $37,500
2027 Audit: $39,000

Following completion of the 2027 Audit, our policy would require a Request for Proposal
(RFP) process.

Strategic Priority:
N/A
Source Of Funds:
Costs are allocated across multiple funds.
Staff Recommendations:
Staff recommends consideration of approval of extending the Abdo contract for an
additional two years, through the 2027 audit.

Attachments:
• Cost Proposal submitted by Abdo for Professional Fees
