Ramsey - Washington Metro
February 6, 1996
Ken Gust
1400 NW 137th Lane
Andover, MN 55304
District
Re: Stoneridge - Little Canada
Mr. Gust,
1902 East County Road B
Maplewood, MN 55109
(612) 777 -3665
fax (612) 777 -6307
Thank you for submitting the grading plan for Stoneridge. The Watershed Districts wetland
inventory shows that the wetland on the site is considerably larger than shown on your grading
plan. The wetland covers the entire western portion of the site including all house pads on the west
side of the access road. A printout from our wetland inventory is included. The wetland inventory
is based on aerial photography and is field verified. The inventory is not based on a delineation.
The wetland on your site must be delineated by a trained wetland delineator so that the exact extent
of the wetland can be determined. This work can not be done until the ground has thawed and
there is vegetation visible in the entire area in question. Until the delineation is performed, the
Districts inventory is assumed to he correct.
The Wetland Conservation Act of 1991 prohibits the draining and filling of wetlands unless a
replacement plan is approved. If the wetland on the site were approved to be filled, you would be
required to create a wetland that is twice as large as the wetland being filled. There are several
stringent requirements that the applicant must meet prior to having a replacement plan approved. If
you would like more information on this subject please contact me at the District office.
Your Watershed District grading permit application will be placed on hold until the wetland issue is
resolved.
Sincerely,
Patric .
