Ramsey County <br />SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT BULLETIN <br />The Sheriff will hold a CITIZENS' ACADEMY and we are now looking <br />for Ramsey County citizens who want to know more about the work and services provided <br />by the Sheriffs Department. <br />PURPOSE: <br />To expose and educate Ramsey County citizens to what police work is all about and to <br />understand what problems and opportunities Deputies face daily in their work. <br />WHEN: <br />March 26 for four weeks — 8 meetings for three hours per evening held on Tuesdays <br />and Thursdays. <br />WHERE: <br />At various Iocations i:: Ramsey County depending upon the subject being discussed. <br />For example, if the subject is the Adult Detention Center, then the evening will be <br />spent in jail. <br />EXAMPLES of TOPICS. <br />Ewing qualifications, juvenile laws, patrol procedures, general investigation, narcotics, <br />K -9 demo, shoot or don't shoot decisions, communication center (911, etc.) tour, <br />detention center tour, introduction to firearms and self defense, DARE, Youth Safety <br />and Development Volunteers Involved in Public Safety (VIPS - new group), gangs, <br />and more. <br />With this exposure, you will have a broad Niew of what the Sheriffs Department <br />provides county citizens. And, we will also carefully listen to your ideas for <br />improvements. <br />YOUR COMMITMENT: <br />Attend all eight sessions.
