PAUL, MINNESOTA 55117
Attn: Planning Commission
Mayor Michael I. Fahey
Administrator Joel R. Hanson
Members of City Council
To all concerned:
This letter is in reference to the notice I received on September 9, 1996, regarding the public
hearing for a text amendment and conditional use permit for allowing recreational use in the
business warehouse and manufacturing area of Industrial Park, located on Yorkton Boulevard.
I regret not being able to attend the hearing, due to other business matters, that are out of town.
We are in opposition to this proposal, for many reasons, that could lead to devastating problems
for all business and home owners in this area. The proposed type of business would indeed draw
many kinds of groups and heavy traffic on the dead end street, causing parking_problems and
causing traffic crossing on private property. Mayor Fahey, Joel Hanson, and others are aware of
past problems we have had due to traffic on the dead end road, that did lead to the destruction of
area businesses properties.
This past summer, we have also experienced many problems with trespassing and vandalism,
costing us thousands of dollars. We had damages to our building, and our security safety lighting.
The sheriffs department is well aware of our problems and has spent many hours of time and
money, with extra patrolling, in trying to prevent and protect the area. Some had to put up
fencing and chains to protect their property. We now must also spend thousands of dollars to put
up partial fencing, to protect our employees and property. We have even had kids riding ATVs
and bicycles through our lots, throwing fire crackers into our building at night.
RECEIVED SEP
Page 9
